Happy Friendship Day!!!!
Some of us might think what difference does it make… If you are good friends how much difference will it make to celebrate it exclusively on one day… Well you are right it does not make much difference but it does make a small difference.
One day when u receive calls and sms from so many friends you have not talked to for long time so many lost memories get refreshed once again.
I make it a point to call all friends in my phone book this day every year. Just to make sure I have not forgotten some friends in my regular day to day life. This day being a Sunday calling them all does not take too much of my work time also J
Well this friendship day I had a blast. For the first time I celebrated this day with my colleagues/friends in office. Thanks a ton to our friend who got married this day. We all joined in for a trip to Mysore to attend her marriage. In a way we did celebrate Friendship Day in our very own special way.
Started off from home at 7am. Met all the people around 8:30 from where 18 of us started our long day in 4 cars. It was a 3 hour journey till Mysore with a breakfast break on the way. We were racing on the highway literally with each car trying to overtake the other one and then laughing out loud at that victory.. even the one who were overtaken could not control their laughter. We had 2 i10s, 1 Innova and 1 Alto and guess what the Alto was winning most of the time. There were people telling the Alto would be all screwed at the end of the day because the driver just denied to bring the speedometer of the car beyond 110 kmph. Well for all what I can say is the car is still in a perfect condition and is celebrating the success of its tough test in its own unique way J
We were a group of 18 with different cultural background, some of us not even understanding each other’s language. Yet we all were able to share common jokes, pull each other’s legs, laugh out loud for silly comments, talk on varied subjects. With a mix of Tamil,Malayalam,Kannada,Hindi,Bhojpuri,Oriya,Bengali,English we all still used to sync up at some common points. Shared some common interests to stay us all connected. It was amazing feeling.
In a world where I see people fighting because they don’t share a common language or culture or age I feel great to be part of such a mixed group of people. What I felt that its not necessary to have a common language or same age to respect each other or make friends with someone. All you need is an open mind and a big heart to accept similarities among diversity while not worrying too much of the differences. I attended a Muslim marriage for the first time yesterday and I could feel at the core they are also so much like us. The people who came in marriage there also were worried about who is wearing how much gold, what kind of dress, how does the bride sit and how much does the groom smiles when he meets people. We see this in all marriages right? What matters at the end of the day is how you try to unite rather than differentiate.
When I called up my friends in different places I got so many mixed reactions. Some old office colleagues who probably were wondering how come this girl calling on a Sunday were all smiling when I wished them HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY. I got to hear Ohh its so sweet of you to remember to call each year and that makes you such a sweet friend. Some of old college friends were like come on yaar how can you remember such days… Whatever be it still it was fun to give each one of them a smile as a friendship day gift and I had so many smiles to take back. Is that not worth it?
I know some of the people who keep worrying about how can I talk to so and so person just because we don’t share a common language or culture.. I want to tell them all guys wake up, grow up. It’s a global culture. To be friends with someone all you need is a smile and a good positive attitude.
Trust me its really worth to have friends from a diverse background. Your mind opens up when u get to know so many varieties of thoughts. You become a better person, better professional.
Think on this. Friendship can be the best gift of human kind. Be good to all and befriends with all. It really pays up in long run J
Have a wonderful friendship week ahead!!!

Wow !! nice write-up. Fully agree with the thoughts expressed and would like to refer it to some ethnocentric dogmatic ppl who believe this is a western culture and should be celebrated in west alone. Full marks for bringing out the quintessence motive of this day i.e. "celebrating friendship"
P.S. Who was the driver of the alto car ?? Since everything looks intact i dont suppose it was you :P ;)
ur enthusiasm is contagious...i like the thought
Reminds me of the day when we all - "The AKPRR gang" wore similar shirts with a beautifully stitched 'Friends Forever' message on it...we all had a blast that friendship day thanks to you..Keep smiling and making others smile!
You have the ability of making very small things so special and derive pleasure from it... Y should you ever have lack of confidence in your self and feel lonely or bored? You can and will do well in whatever you take up... Get back your confidence and inner charm and you will make miracles happen:)
hey anjana, good write-up . happy friendshp day to you too!
may be we should celebrate a bigger friendship day at campus next year ? r u game ??

Probably the best among all the blogs you have posted. Really nice write up! To observe and pen down such simple (yet most important) aspects of life is certainly a great skill. Your posts are reflections of your inner beauty... keep the reflection on..
