What needs to be done---Past or Future????

“Seekh hum beeten yugon se naye yug ka kare swagat Karen swagat” Many of us have grown up listening to this title song of Mahabharata(By B.R. Chopra.. not sure what is Ekta Kapoor’s version of the same ) Let us look into it deeply and try to understand what does Mr. B. R Chopra conveys there.

The whole point of repeating Mahabharata, an epic written thousands of years earlier, in front of the people was to show them the mistakes the characters in the story had done in their life and that no one is ‘Black’ or ‘White’ rather each of us have shades of grey. Any point of time you revist that story you can figure out the common mistakes which a person should avoid so as to be righteous and successful in long run.

We have seen mistakes committed by both Duryodhana and Yudhisthir, Karan and Arjun, Dhritrashtra and Bhishma. Now do we keep discussing them and try to figure out who was more better as a moral character or do we try to learn from their mistakes so that we don’t repeat the same.

This exact theory should be explained to our Indian Government’s so called strongest opposition party BJP’s leaders. They all are busy having chintan baithaks to decide whether Jinnah was more secular than Sardar Patel or who was mastermind behind Partition. Well I would say whatever be it can we change it? How will it affect the problems faced by today’s India. Rather than discussing about the actual cause of what happened in past should they not focus on learning from the mistakes and think about not repeating such mistakes again and work for a better India.

I was inspired by the article written by ‘Chetan Bhagat’ in the Times of India editorials where he writes we need both BJP and Congress to be strong and good option for India to prosper.

I completely agree to his idea that a strong opposition is also needed for a nation’s growth. After all if the ruling party does not face a strong opposition how will it come out of creative solutions for problems which the opposition finds difficult to oppose?

Had Yudhisthira been a strong opposition to Dhritrashtra in putting forward his opinions on the state of hastinapur would Dhritrashtra ever be able to continue being infavourable to them? I understand sometimes it is necessary to accept things not in your favour but that should not become the rule.

I strongly believe we should question and raise our voices for injustices whether or not they are answered immediately. As long as people incharge are aware that there are opposing views they would always try to propose for solutions which could be the least opposed to. If a solution is least opposed to means that it is favourable to most. If it is favourable to most definitely it will be in favour of the nation.

Let us all apply this in our daily lives also to be critically intelligent about matters that deserve to be. Let us all try to inculcate that habit of understanding each decision and its pros and cons. When each one of us learn from the mistakes done by people in past we move forward to become a better citizen. Let us work for a better future by critically examining the past and not try to fix the past. Past cannot be redone or undone. What can be done is our present and hence the future. So let us try to write our future rather than trying to rewrite the past.

Learning by mistakes is good and quite practical way,but again a diff thing as finding mistakes in our deed is not simple.
